What is a Wireless Internet Hotspot?
A wireless hotspot is a venue where laptops and other WiFi enabled devices can access the
internet without the need for cables or dial up service. Hotspots provide wireless coverage
to areas such as lobbies, recreation rooms, reception buildings or can be extended to provide
wireless coverage over much larger areas including Marinas, Tourist Parks and Townhouse
Complexes.
At the hub of AccommIT WiFi Hotspots are Gateway Controllers which utilises an existing ADSL
Broadband service and one or more Wireless Access Points to create a wireless network called a
“Wireless Hotspot”. The Access Points transmit a signal that can be detected by any wireless
enabled device such as a laptop computer. Anyone can connect to the Hotspot but in order to
browse the internet they require authentication in the form of a user name and password.
WIRELESS INTERNET INSTALLATION
A typical AccommIT WiFi hotspot consists of one of two packages; Hotspot-PC or Hotspot-RT, the table

AccommIT WiFi Hotspot Packages including equipment and installation are a purchased item whereby
you own the equipment.
If you choose to charge your guests; AccommIT WiFi does not take a
commission on any revenue generated by the hotspot.
All hotspot packages come with a 1 year Return-To-Base Warranty on the equipment and it is the
property owner’s responsibility for freight of the faulty unit to and from AccommIT WiFi.
The purchase price includes:
- Design, configuration, supply and installation of all equipment required to set-up a wireless
hotspot tailored to your requirements on an existing broadband service (Hotspot-RT and
Hotspot-PC do not require installation by AccommIT WiFi, they are DIY install because they
do not have any externally mounted equipment such as high gain antenna).
- Hotspot software that enables you to manage your hotspot via an online web based interface
(the “Hotspot Software” is a licensed third party product and the licence remains the property
of AccommIT WiFi).
A licence service fee paid in advance each quarter provides: use of Hotspot software under the
conditions of the licence. Product support includes any configuration changes, upgrades, or
modifications plus online support through FAQ, user guides and network troubleshooting documents,
phone support for hotspot hosts and their guests.
